Q:
I am thinking of getting filler in my temple area due to volume/fat loss. Which one is the safest with least side effects?
A:
Hello and thanks for posting.
There are many safe choices for temple filler. One of the most important safety issues has to do with injection technique.
One strategy for temple filling is to place filler under the temporal fascia, just above the bone. This deep approach to temple filling essentially removes the possibility of a surface nodule developing, but also requires careful injection by an experienced practitioner to avoid inadvertent injection into a blood vessel.
The other approach is to inject filler into the subcutaneous space in the temple. This is especially helpful when there is volume loss in the region above the eyebrow that also needs to be addressed. This technique is best done using a microcannula to minimize pain, bruising, and to ensure safety.
So which filler to use? Anyone who has not done filler in the past might be best served by the use of an HA filler like Voluma, Juvederm, or Restylane. These products have a long-term safety record and are reversible if the desired outcome is not achieved. For longer lasting choices, Sculptra and Bellafill are excellent options.
I hope that this information helps and best of luck to you!
